SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Work started on an improved emergency women’s shelter in Springfield.
Crosslines Community Outreach’s unhoused women’s shelter, Safe to Sleep, has been operating between hotels and churches for the last 13 years. While it has met the goal of providing clean shelter, its founders wanted to do better.
The new Safe to Sleep shelter will have the same capacity, 50, as set by Springfield statute, but will offer much higher-quality and more private amenities. Those staying at the current shelter have to assemble cots every night. Here, they will have a full sleeping pod all to themselves…
