Surge shutout Cardinals, 6-0

SPRINGFIELD–The red hot Springfield Cardinals are still 30 games above .500, but suffered their second loss in a row, Saturday night, after getting blanked, 6-0 by the Wichita Wind Surge.

The Cardinals used solid pitching and defense to keep the Surge off the board through the first four innings, but eventually, Wichita was able to break the scoreless tie with two runs in the top of the 5th. A solo home run and an rbi single gave the visitors a 2-0 edge, before Jose Salas cleared the bases with a 3-run double in the top of the 6th to put the game out of reach.

With the loss Springfield now holds a 3-2 series lead in its latest homestand. A victory Sunday would give the Cardinals the series, but a loss to the Surge would mean a 3-3 split…
