Temperatures have ranged between the mid-90s and even some 100s around the Ozarks Friday through the weekend. Springfield has measured 98° for 3 consecutive days, and today may be day 4.
Today is the last day of the heat advisory that has been in effect since Friday. Temperatures today will again climb into the mid-to-upper 90s. Winds will be light from the south with mostly sunny skies. A few showers are possible east of Highway 65 this afternoon.
Tuesday is a day of change. Tuesday itself will still be hot and humid with temperatures likely making the mid-90s in the early afternoon, especially in Southern Missouri and Northern Arkansas. A cold front will bring rain and cooler temperatures to the area late Tuesday afternoon.
Rain will be scattered but much-needed on Tuesday evening. Isolated showers remain possible on Wednesday and Thursday as well. Rainfall totals will range widely between 0.25″ and 1.00″.
Many people are looking forward to the promised cooler temperatures following the rain on Tuesday evening. The first wave of “cooler weather” will be felt on Wednesday when temperatures halt in the upper 80s to around 90°. Overnights later this week will get down to the mid-60s.
Another shot of cool air is on the way for next weekend. This second cool down may reduce temperatures to the low to mid-80s this coming weekend and into early next week…
