Record-breaking heat expected this week

Summer lovers rejoice, as this rare September heatwave isn’t letting up anytime soon.

A heat dome is building over the central United States, limiting rain chances and allowing warmth to flood into the region. Over the next several days, high temperatures will challenge record levels.

Saturday will play out very similarly to what we saw yesterday. Expect temperatures to peak in the mid-90s for most locations; however, a few spots will be unlucky enough to see thermometers climb into the upper 90s.

The vast majority of locations will stay dry today. That said, I can’t rule out the chance of a pop-up shower in the afternoon.

A few more clouds are expected on Sunday, which may cause temperatures to dip just a couple of degrees below what we see today.

Hot weather sticks around to start the work week. In fact, I’m eyeing Tuesday as a potential record-breaker.

Colder weather finally returns on Thursday as the summer ridge breaks down. As this happens, we’ll need to keep an eye out for the chance of scattered showers bringing much-needed rainfall…
