OZARK, Mo. (KY3) – The City of Ozark received the Large City Innovation Award from the Missouri Municipal League for the creation of the Garrison Springs Community Forest. It has been just over a year since the community forest opened, and now some new innovations are on the way.
The city’s public works department and parks department are working together to bring a Garrison Springs Trail. This new recreational path would connect Finley River Park to the community forest.
“To be able to go from the north part of Ozark to the south part at Finley River Park and at the OC is gonna be really amazing,” said Hayden Ponsar, Ozark’s Parks and Recreation Director, “but someday hopefully to connect Springfield to Ozark will be amazing. People from the city will benefit. People will be able to ride to work, ride to school. People will be able to have a recreational day going from Springfield Lake down to Ozark in the long term of the plan. I think it’s really amazing to build those opportunities for everyone, from our citizens here in town to those people who visit Ozark.”…
