Gusty storms possible this afternoon across parts of the Ozarks

Another unusually warm September day is underway, and it comes with a touch of late summer humidity.

This is setting the stage for a more active afternoon with scattered storms expected. These storms will tend to focus across areas between I-49 and Hwy. 63.

Lightning and locally heavy downpours are possible with the heavier storms, along with gusty winds. The Storm Prediction Center also included in their outlook a risk of a few of these storms producing locally severe wind gusts to 60 mph.

Storms have already started to pop, and they should increase in coverage, gradually building westward with time. They will likely wind down this evening.
