New classrooms at 2 Springfield elementary schools offer room for growth

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Proposition S, a $220 million bond issue passed by Springfield voters in 2023, will fund projects in Springfield schools, including safety and security improvements and six new storm shelters. On Tuesday and Thursday, two more projects will be completed.

Field Elementary and Wilder Elementary are hosting ribbon cuttings this week for their new classroom spaces.

Field is one of the schools accepting students from Pershing as it gets ready to close its elementary school side. Its four new classrooms give the increased student body room to spread out and give classrooms to teachers who were sharing space before. Principal Adam Bax says some teachers were sharing classrooms or didn’t have their own dedicated space to teach until now…
