NIXA, Mo. — Nixa Fire Protection District crews responded to a reported explosion and visible fire Sunday night in the 800 block of West Myra Drive.

The call was quickly upgraded to a structure fire, and when crews arrived, they found an active garage fire at a single-story home.

The Nixa Fire Protection District says crews attacked the fire aggressively and were able to contain the fire to the garage and the attic space above, preventing the fire from spreading to the home.

All people in the home evacuated safely. One person was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation, and there were no firefighters injured.
