Local mariachi group looks to teach unique sound to others

Mariachi Flor De Missouri started out as a duet.

“Rachael and I sat down and we did a cover of a song and we were in tears when we after we’d done it, we just have to do this, and so we started to ask people,” Andrew Bishko said. “Our daughter started coming along to our gigs early on. She would sit in the background and sing along with her mommy, and now she’s playing violin and singing with the band. We have about six or seven other musicians in our pool in different cities in Kansas City and in Springfield, and that formed part of the band and that we can bring in for different performances.”

As the band grows, so does the resume of performances…
