Italian restaurant prepares to open in Springfield; food bank’s annual fundraiser begins

Signage goes up for new Italian restaurant

Amore Italian, 853 N. Glenstone Ave., has put up signage and information on its front door. The restaurant, which has been remodeling the former Jose Loco’s building since January, said earlier in the month that it is aiming to open by the end of September.

Amore will serve up “seafood, pasta, New York-style pizza, steaks, desserts, expertly crafted cocktails, and a curated wine list,” according to a Jan. 5 Facebook post.

Jose Loco’s first opened on North Glenstone Avenue in 2013, according to previous News-Leader reporting, and then moved to the former Doe’s Eat Place building at 935 N. Glenstone Ave. in November 2022.

Food bank launches annual fundraiser to feed kids during school year

Ozarks Food Harvest, which is the Feeding American food bank for southwest Missouri, launched its 12th annual Empty Bowls fundraiser on Sept. 25. The fundraiser supports the food bank’s Weekend Backpack Program, which provides nearly 1,700 kids across 15 southwest Missouri counties with “nutritious and accessible weekend meals throughout the school year,” according to the press release…
