Springfield Police recommend ways to prevent car crimes after series of vandalisms at MSU

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Springfield Police Department (SPD) has released information about a series of car vandalisms that occurred in late August at Missouri State University (MSU), resulting in thousands of dollars in damages.

The incidents took place in the East Cherry parking lot at MSU, where 17 cars were vandalized with smashed windshields, dented hoods and torn off rearview mirrors.

A suspect, alleged to be Ryan Joseph Schaefer, has been arrested, but concerns remain about the potential for similar incidents in the future…
