NEWTON COUNTY, Ark. — Newton County Sheriff Glenn Wheeler says when they responded to the campsite that belonged to 60-year-old Springfield, Missouri native Max Thomas, they were sure something had happened, but weren’t sure.
“We weren’t sure at that point what we had,” Wheeler said. “We processed it, we approached it like a crime scene.”
