City of Springfield throws a block party to celebrate the completion of a year-long road project

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – After a year of construction and closures, the Galloway Widening Project is complete, and the city of Springfield is inviting you to celebrate. It’s hosting a block party filled with food, celebration, and discussion on October 14.

The celebration is meant to thank the neighborhood for its patience while the project was under construction and also is an opportunity for city leaders to ask people in the neighbor what’s next. While the roadwork is done, there’s still landscaping work and finishing touches coming in the future.

The project widened Galloway Street to three lanes between Luster Ave. and Lone Pine Ave. and added a roundabout at each of those intersections for safety. It also added wide trails and sidewalks and made storm water improvements…
