Say Goodbye to 6 p.m. Sunsets as Clocks Fall Back Soon

As cooler temperatures finally return to the Ozarks this week, it’s beginning to actually feel like fall for a change. But along with the chill in the air comes another seasonal shift and noticeably shorter days.

Right now, we’re losing more than two minutes of daylight each day. Sunrises aren’t happening until around 7:30 a.m. for the first time since March, and sunsets are creeping earlier and earlier, now dipping below the horizon just before 6:30 p.m.

If you’ve been dreading those early nights, brace yourself, as it’s only getting worse. We have just one more week of 6 p.m. sunsets before Daylight Saving Time ends. When the clocks “fall back” one hour, sunset on November 2 will occur at 5:14 p.m.

While the earlier darkness can take some getting used to, it also marks the transition toward the winter season. So as the daylight fades a little sooner each day, it’s a gentle reminder that autumn is truly settling into the Ozarks…
