SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Springfield Police tell Ozarks First that officers are working a scene where a person has barricaded themselves inside a vehicle with a gun.
Officers have the property at 1045 W. Sunshine Street taped off as officers are working to contact what police say is a “suicidal” person inside a vehicle.
Our crew on scene reports nearly 10 squad cars, an ambulance, and the SPD Special Response Team are all on location with the “bearcat” armored vehicle. There are no traffic impacts, and Sunshine Street is not affected. This is taking place in an area between America’s Car Mart and Caliber Collision.
Police say adjacent lots are also blocked off for safety. People should avoid the area as the situation is ongoing midday Tuesday.
