From fraternity to military, Springfield’s Pythian Castle hauntingly holds Ozarks history

Ozarks knights built the stately stone castle to serve lives beyond their own and ultimately created a landmark — and some legends — that have lasted far beyond their lifetimes.

More than a century after those knights rode to the castle, perhaps not on charging steeds but by streetcar, the place they helped build has remained a visible anchor in Springfield. And perhaps has a few ghostly residents.
