Springfield’s Salvation Army breaks ground on new Harbor House complex

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – The Salvation Army broke ground this afternoon on a new housing complex at its headquarters at Kansas and Chestnut in Springfield.

The new facility will replace the aging Harbor House downtown, a shelter that helps men get back on their feet. The current building is 80 years old.

Robert Hightower began his journey with Harbor House 26 years ago and has served the Salvation Army ever since. After graduating from the program, Hightower returned to work at Harbor House. Staff said Hightower became a legend, known for his constant advice to “stay focused.”…
