SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Drury men’s and women’s swimming and diving dominated day two of the Drury Invitational, recording wins in 16 of the 20 combined individual races, three of four relay events and all four diving competitions to pull away for convincing team titles Saturday afternoon at Breech Pool.
The Drury women, ranked No. 6 in the October edition of the CSCAA Division II Top 25 dual meet poll, dominated the morning session to expand an already comfortable lead, getting wins from Maria Fe Munoz (100 fly), Alyssa Freimanis (400 IM), Belen Morales (200 free), Gwen Bergum (100 breast) and Ashlyn Moore (100 back) to open the day. Munoz, Morales and Bergum each added individual titles in the afternoon session as well to help Drury (1,184.5) nearly double up second-place Rockhurst (649) in the team standings.
Bergum turned in a season best in the 200 breast, with her time of 2:14.91 ranking as the second-best mark at the NCAA Division II level this season. She was one of three Panthers to claim multiple individual titles on the women’s side.
