Whoever said video rentals were a thing of the past? A downtown Springfield bookstore is bringing back the experience of picking a film off the shelf for movie night rather than couch-surfing with a TV remote.
Bookmarx announced Tuesday, Nov. 4, that it is launching a video rental store, called Mister Googorium’s Movie Emporium, in the back of the bookstore where an art gallery space is currently located. The video rental service will officially open March 24, 2026.
The name honors Googey, Bookmarx’s dear departed store cat (and 2023 Captain Springfield), combined with a reference to Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium, a 2007 fantasy film.
