Nearly Century-old Springfield record in threat of falling tomorrow

Tomorrow we face a heat surge that will challenge a record that has stood for nearly a century.

This comes just days after multiple records were set across the region. Rolla saw a record high last Friday, only for Saturday to bring all-time highs for Springfield, Joplin, and Harrison.

Despite the soggy feel on Monday, skies will clear Tuesday, followed by a massive jump in temperatures. For Springfield, the magic number to beat is 78°. If we reach or exceed that, we’ll topple a record that has held since 1930.
