Springfield’s Jordan Creek project advances with culvert installation

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — City officials are highlighting major progress on a key phase of the Renew Jordan Creek project in downtown Springfield, where construction crews recently completed a complicated installation under the BNSF Railway.

The work required placing 70 culvert boxes beneath the rail line — a task project manager Kirkland Preston described as both critical and complex. He said the timeline set by the railroad was tight.

“It was a time constraint that was a railroad-driven time constraint,” Preston said. “There was some contingency built into the scheduling, but we were fortunate that we finished early. We finished in about half the time allotted.”…
