SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (WKRC) – A couple who was unable to make it to the hospital for the birth of their child found a makeshift delivery room in an unexpected place – the parking lot of a Buc-ee’s gas station.
Nathan and Jena Birdsong were on the way to the hospital to deliver their daughter, Elaina Grace Birdsong, but it soon became apparent to the couple that they were not going to make it in time.
Jena made it clear she couldn’t wait any longer when the couple was next to a Buc-ee’s, so Nathan pulled into the parking lot, called 911, and prepared to deliver his own child. In addition to the dispatchers, Nathan also made contact with Mercy Hospital workers to help him through the process…
