The first two weekends in November were a VERY busy time in the Delaware neighborhood with the Bass Pro Marathon Cheering Challenge on Sunday, Nov. 2 and the Delaware/Rountree Neighborhoods Cleanup on Saturday, Nov. 8.
The Delaware Pirates & Pixies were even more colorful and noisy than usual for the marathon. Runners (and neighbors) were cowbelled and greeted with ‘You’re my Favorite Runner’ and ‘Ahoy Matey’ throughout the De l’Aware Passage portion of the Bass Pro Marathon course. The weather was beautiful, and pickle Juice and rum (not together!) were very popular this year as usual.
The impact was huge for the combined Rountree/Delaware Neighborhood Cleanup held at the University Heights Baptist Church parking lot on Nov. 8. Republic Services hauled away five trash dumpsters and three brush dumpsters, and roughly 6,000 pounds of scrap metal went into Daniel’s truck and trailer.
