Temperatures tried to warm back up yesterday, but our atmosphere’s efforts all came crashing down following another cold front late in the day. That front has brought another round of Canadian cold to the Ozarks.
Temperatures this morning are starting in the teens in Central Missouri and 30s in Northern Arkansas. The cold air will percolate through the area, making it difficult to rise above freezing this afternoon in Springfield. Wind chills out the door are as low as the single digits in Central Missouri this morning and will stay below freezing today.
There is a light winter mix this morning in areas near and south of I-44. The winter mix is mostly staying ahead of the freezing line at the surface, so road impacts have been limited to none this morning. Additional flurries may develop today.
There is a chance for very light snow across Northern Arkansas today from Fayetteville to Mountain View as an area of low pressure tracks across the Southeast US. Most data keeps precipitation farther south into Central Arkansas, however, some data brings it farther north near the state line. Impacts are expected to be minimal should light snow develop in Northern Arkansas today.
Looking ahead, tomorrow will be slightly warmer as temperatures once again aim for the mid-40s. Saturday could be near 50°! Skies Friday and Saturday will be mixed with sun and clouds with winds generally from the south.
Another weak storm drops through the area on Sunday morning, bringing another chance for light winter weather. Most data keeps any precip northeast of the area, but a brief winter mix can’t be ruled out in Central Missouri on Sunday.
Monday is chilly in the low 40s, then we finally introduce 50s back into the forecast for a couple of days next week. Bring it on!…
