SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) says raised medians will reduce crashes and save lives. But business owners and law enforcement warn the project could hurt local business and slow emergency response.
MoDOT project manager Christi Bachman stated the urgency of safety improvements.
“It is time to invest in safety improvements on East Sunshine Street. What we’ve seen is that traffic volumes are decreasing. People are avoiding Sunshine Street, and we want to make sure that if people want to use Sunshine Street,” she said…
