I love sharing nice and happy news which admittedly doesn’t happen as often as I’d like. This is one of those somewhat rare occasions. A Missouri town was just named one of the safest Ozarks places you can settle in.
This is also one of those national rankings that I find ironic. One of the narratives about Missouri is how “dangerous” Springfield is. With that in mind, I present to you the Missouri town named the safest place to settle in the Ozarks according to World Atlas. It’s Nixa, Missouri which (spoiler alert) is located just south of the danger capital of Springfield.
This proves the point I’ve been making for years about the St. Louis area. Some of the nicest communities you can live in Missouri are suburbs of St. Louis, the so-called murder capital. Same can be said for the Springfield area. Does it have trouble spots for crime? Sure. But, there are also many epic communities that are way above average. World Atlas mentions that Nixa has “a low crime rate and considered 55% safer than most US cities” and they’re not wrong. It also has a population of just over 23,000 which is just about perfect for guys like me that don’t enjoy big cities. They also mention the nice parks in the area which is also true. Bonus points for their very nice 18-hole disk golf course. It’s sweet…
