The December delight that got underway early last week has come to an end, swept aside by a strong cold front. Temperatures tumbled from the 70s early in the afternoon, down into the 20s by Sunday evening.
And temperatures will continue to drop through sunrise as a blast of arctic air sweeps across the Ozarks. Readings by morning will dip into the teens with wind chills dropping a little below zero. The cold will persist throughout the day with sunny skies struggling to warm temperatures. Afternoon highs will remain below freezing in most areas. Breezy winds will continue to drive “feels like” temperatures well below freezing into the afternoon.
