Flu activity reaches highest level in nearly 30 years; cases rising in the Ozarks

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Doctor visits for flu-like symptoms have reached the highest level in nearly 30 years, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Symptoms include fevers, sore throat, extreme fatigue, and body aches. The CDC flu activity map shows 48 states at the top of the scale in either the high or very high category.

Missouri and Arkansas are both in the very high category. The Missouri dashboard shows emergency room visits have surged in the last two weeks.
