CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Mo. — A wildfire burning on Forest Service land since Saturday is beginning to wind down after scorching hundreds of acres, officials said.
The Math Branch Fire, which started Jan. 3, has remained entirely within Forest Service property. Public relations officer Emily Ficker said no homes or buildings are threatened.
“The fire is completely on Forest Service land,” Ficker said. “So there has been no damage to personal property or to any buildings or anything like that. The fire has stayed completely on Forest Service land and, believe it or not, it’s going to be beneficial this spring because there are some plants that require fire every once in a while.”…
