Mercy Springfield breaks its record number of births

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Mercy Hospital Springfield delivered a record number of babies under its roof in 2025, breaking a milestone that had stood for more than a decade.

The hospital welcomed 3,329 babies last year, surpassing its own previous record of 3,226 births set in 2014. The total also marked a significant increase from 2024, with 177 more babies born in 2025 than the year before.

“A lot of love happened last year. That’s what happened,” said Jennifer Murray, director of nursing for women and children services at Mercy Springfield. “We eclipsed last year by 177 births. We sat this year at 3,329 and are just so excited.”…
