SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (Edited News Release/KY3) – Springfield’s City Utilities (CU) is moving into the next phase of its water service line identification effort, required under the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Revised Lead and Copper Rule.
For approximately 38,000 customer-owned water service lines whose materials remain unknown, CU crews will begin going door-to-door to request permission to identify the service line materials as they enter the home. These inspections typically require access to basements or crawl spaces to verify the material of the customer-owned portion of the service line.
Customers whose water service lines remain unknown will be contacted by text message or phone call two days before crews are scheduled to be in their neighborhood. Notifications will be sent using the contact number listed on their City Utilities account and will include information about granting access for identification. To ensure CU has the correct contact information for your property, please call our customer service team at (417) 863-9000 to confirm your information or visit cityutilities.net to make adjustments…
