The west side of Springfield along Sunshine Street is seeing rapid development, with the new Target slowly taking shape and the first Dutch Bros. Coffee opening in the area. Now, an apartment complex could be the latest to join the lineup.
Nearly 18 acres of undeveloped land is up to be rezoned for medium-density multi-family housing at 2000 S. McCurry Ave., just south of Sunshine Street and west of West Bypass. The proposal to develop 21 three-story apartment buildings with a total 421 units appeared before the Springfield Planning & Zoning Commission on Thursday, Jan. 15.
The proposal includes amenities such as a swimming pool, resident clubhouse and sports courts. The complex would consist of seven 12-unit buildings and 12 24-unit buildings and provide 768 parking spots.
