Saturday Morning: Light snow to start, heavy snow to end

The snow has begun in the Ozarks, and it’s starting to collect on the roads and ground just a bit. The snow this morning is light to moderate and is very dry. On and off snow showers will continue today before a second wave of snow develops this evening. That’s the heavy round of snow we’ve been anticipating.

Snow this morning through noon may amount to 1″ to 3″, perhaps 4″ in Northern Arkansas. Snow will dwindle for the afternoon before picking up again this evening, likely after 6 PM.

Snow tonight will be moderate to heavy snow into Sunday morning before winding down Sunday midday. Snow amounts are still on track to be between 6″ and 10″ in Southern Missouri, slightly less in Central Missouri, and slightly more in Northern Arkansas.

Roads will be covered today, and will be hazardous tonight into Sunday morning. Snow will compact on the roads with more traffic through the day, and will be tough to remove later today and into Sunday. Plowed roads, of course, will be in much better shape.
