Landmark bridge on S. Campbell set for demolition, replacement

SPRINGFIELD, MO –  Some planned improvements to S. Campbell Ave. are likely to change the look of the corridor in more ways than one.

Earlier this month, Ozarks First told you about the city receiving a federal grant to pay for major upgrades to parts of S. Campbell. The goal will be to improve traffic flow and safety on busy segments: Republic Road to Walnut Lawn St., and Sunshine St. to Minota St.  The improvements would be similar to those already made to Campbell between James River Freeway and Primrose St.

The Republic-Walnut Lawn segment is one of the busiest stretches of roadway in the city, with approximately 40,000 vehicles per day according to city data.  Improvements to the section will include widening the roadway to six lanes, installing safety medians and curbs, and adding other traffic calming measures…
