Valentine’s Day Highlight: STL Tops Missouri for Singles

ST. LOUIS — As Valentine’s Day approaches, a new study from financial technology company SmartAsset puts St. Louis at the top of an unexpected list: the Singles Capital of Missouri.

Nearly 48% of St. Louis residents have never been married, the highest share among Missouri cities examined. The ranking places the region ahead of other major metro areas in the state and highlights how relationship status can influence not only personal lives but also local economies and culture.

Kansas City lands on the other side of the relationship spectrum. SmartAsset found that 41% of Kansas City residents are married, giving it the highest marriage rate among Missouri cities studied.

On average, 40.1% of adults in large U.S. cities are married, while 42.5% have never tied the knot, according to SmartAsset.
