The parents of a young man who died after waiting for treatment in Mercy Springfield’s emergency department are suing the hospital system and its staff, according to court records.
John and Michelle Lubrano of Texas allege that their 24-year-old son George Lubrano would have lived if Mercy emergency department staff had properly assessed him and treated him for diabetic ketoacidosis. They are suing Mercy Hospital Springfield as well as Dr. Patrick Craddock and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Kimberly Wilkerson, both of whom were listed as having cared for George Lubrano.
The Lubranos are seeking an as yet undetermined amount in damages for monetary losses, funeral expenses, loss of services, “companionship, comfort, instruction, guidance, counseling, training, support, love and affection,” the petition said…
