SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Springfield City Council is considering a request that could bring 12.67 acres of land into the city limits.
A property owner wants the commercially zoned land annexed to enable future development. The land is located on West Sunshine Street just east of Moore Road.
Although there are properties nearby that are already within the city, this space is technically outside Springfield’s city limits. If the city council approves the request, it would officially become part of the city.
“There’s a lot of jags and just different configurations where it’s not really clear what is in the city and what’s outside of the city,” said Alana Owens, principal planner for the City of Springfield.
