Construction caused major decline in business for Springfield food truck park

Metro Eats, 2463 W. Sunshine St., saw a more than 60% decline in business during nearly six months of construction that throttled traffic along Sunshine Street, according to park owner Christina Shellhart. However, the park is perking up with the completion of a bridge, walkways and re-opening of Sunshine Street.

Metro Eats is home to nearly 20 local small businesses and will be welcoming another in March. Tropical Sno, which previously was on Campbell Avenue, will be opening at Metro Eats on the same day as the Sunshine Street Target opens, March 15.

While the bridge itself opened in early January 2026, the project is not yet marked as complete on the MoDOT site. The bridge closed down Sunshine Street between Scenic and Marion avenues from August 2025 to January 2026, according to previous News-Leader reporting.
