Performance of the Week – Mabel Rogers & Savannah Bratten

Last March, Savannah Bratten and Mabel Rogers were eighth graders winning MOUSA state championships. On Saturday, as Republic freshmen competing against sophomores, juniors, and seniors, they were district champions.

Bratten and Rogers each won Class 2 District 3 titles — Bratten at 125 pounds and Rogers at 115 — helping Republic send a program-record six girls to the state tournament. Neither wrestler allowed a single point in any of their district matches.

Bratten received a first-round bye, then pinned her way through the bracket — beating Belton’s Abigail Hayes in 1:47, Willard’s Neela Motlagh in 2:43, and Ozark’s Hannah Maskrod in 4:23 in the championship match…
