G. Pearson Ward, shown in this 1953 photograph holding a display panel for KTTS-TV, served as general manager of the station.

Ward, who graduated from Springfield Senior High School in 1921, was a pioneer in radio and television broadcasting in the Ozarks, having co-established KTTS radio in 1942 and KTTS-TV, later known as KOLR, in 1953.

Ward served in leadership roles with the Springfield Chamber of Commerce, and the Springfield Family Y’s downtown location was named in his honor…
