Winter is definitely trying to fight back, taking over the weekend and holding firm into Monday. Ol’ Man Winter is set to give up ground, though, as a pattern shift delivers more of a spring feel in the coming days.
A surface high sliding southeast into the Gulf will flip the switch on Tuesday. Gusty southwest winds will blow in much warmer air. The switch will actually occur tonight, with temperatures tumbling quickly during the evening hours ahead of a wind shift and increase in clouds that will cause temperatures to rise toward sunrise.
Temperatures will surge on Tuesday, despite widespread high cloudiness. By afternoon, temperatures will climb into the upper 50s and 60s.
Look for winds to pick up by late morning with wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph from late morning into the afternoon hours. This will also lead to an elevated fire concern thanks to the dry air that will also be in place.
The winds will ease heading into Tuesday night with high clouds continuing to stream across our skies.
Clouds will continue to spill across skies through Wednesday. This will hinder highs somewhat, but it will still be mild with afternoon temperatures in the 60s.
Rain showers will arrive with an overnight front, lingering through sunrise before quickly shifting off to the southeast. Sunny skies will quickly take over by afternoon. A lack of cold air behind the front will keep the pattern mild.
In fact, it gets downright warm Friday and Saturday, days that will come with abundant sunshine as well.
