The West Central Neighborhood Alliance in Springfield announced a new initiative to support local businesses along historic Route 66, according to a community announcement.
The Mother Road Business Curb Appeal Program will offer matching reimbursement funds to businesses looking to revitalize their storefronts.
Up to $500 in matching funds available
Approved businesses can receive up to $500 in matching reimbursement funds for exterior improvements. Eligible projects include painting, signage, murals, landscaping and specialized Route 66 storefront displays for the centennial, according to the announcement.
The program is open to businesses between Kimbrough Avenue and Kansas Expressway. The application period opened Feb. 20. Applications submitted by March 1 will receive priority review to ensure storefronts are ready for the centennial kickoff on April 30.
