GALENA, Mo. (KY3) – Before a manhunt and shootout that left two Christian County deputies dead, suspect Richard Bird and his wife had been arrested twice in Stone County on burglary and other property crime charges. Both times, the bond was set at $50,000, and in both cases, it was posted.
Following the shootings, criticism directed at Stone County judges spread online. Stone County Sheriff Doug Rader said the judges followed state law.
“Both of them had a $50,000 bond. They posted bond to a bondsman. We found more stolen property and charged them again with additional charges. And again, they posted a $50,000 bond apiece through a bondsman,” Sheriff Rader said…
