Springfield man sentenced in two separate arson cases

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A man from Springfield who pleaded guilty in two different arson cases from 2024 has been sentenced.

Micheal Fields, 31, was sentenced to 14 years in prison for first-degree arson, seven years each for both offenses. Fields pleaded guilty on Dec. 8, 2025.

Fields was first arrested for starting a fire at an apartment complex on Sept. 25, 2024, that damaged the building and destroyed its gas supply line and meter.

Fields told Springfield police that he poured a cup of gasoline on a pillow and ignited it. He also said he tried to set fire to an AC unit to “scare the people who had wronged him,” according to court documents…
