Families of fallen and injured law enforcement officers in the Ozarks share how communities can help

CHRISTIAN CO, Mo. (KY3) – As deputies’ families begin adjusting to life following this week’s tragedy, two families who have experienced loss and injury in law enforcement are sharing how communities can best support them.

Sheri Walsh lost her husband, Christopher, five years ago when he was killed in the line of duty. She said many people focus their support on the first year of grief, but that the second year can be more difficult.

“There’s a lot of focus on year one, just make it through the first year. But year two is harder,” Walsh said. “A lot of the immediate support was more on the back burner. It wasn’t gone. It just wasn’t right there in your face.”…
