Ozark, Mo. (KY3) – Two deputies injured in a gunfight near Reeds Spring earlier this week remain hospitalized as Christian County prepares to bury two other officers killed in the same incident.
Deputy Josh Wahl of the Christian County Sheriff’s Office and Deputy Austin McCall of the Webster County Sheriff’s Office were both taken to the hospital with severe injuries following Tuesday morning’s gunfight.
Deputy McCall’s condition
Webster County Sheriff Roye Cole said he has visited Deputy McCall every day since the shooting. McCall suffered four gunshot wounds.
“He’s a very brave man. He’s also a goofball and quick-witted. But I think, more importantly, he’s the type of person who makes everybody around them feel better about themselves. And that’s the kind of people that we need around here, Sheriff Cole said. ”That’s the kind of people we need in the world. He’s non-critical by nature, but he’s also highly intelligent and has discernment.”
