From the Darkroom shows poverty in the Ozarks in the 1960s

This impoverished Ozarks family, pictured in their home, was one of many photographed for a 1961 article in the Sunday News & Leader about poverty in the Ozarks.

One household described in the article consisted of 11 individuals, living in a two-bedroom apartment on a monthly income equivalent to $1,400 today.
