SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Habitat for Humanity of Springfield is preparing for a first-of-its-kind build: a full-scale home frame constructed inside the Oasis Convention Center ahead of the annual Tool Belts & Bow Ties gala on Thursday, March 5.
The structure is not a display piece. It is the real two-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bath home that will eventually belong to the Haskett family, a local partner homebuyer working through Habitat’s zero-percent interest program.
“We talk a lot about galas and fundraising and events, and everything goes back to building our homes,” Executive Director Chris Tuckness said. “Sometimes it may get lost in these events. What better way to do this than to literally bring a house into the venue?”…
