Man faces trial for death of Christian County deputy, wife during pursuit

OZARK, Mo. — A jury trial has been scheduled for a man from Webb City accused of killing off-duty Christian County deputy Mike Adams and his wife, Ashley, during a pursuit near Highlandville in June 2025.

According to online court records, Garrett Cleaver’s trial is scheduled for June 3, 2027, with a hearing scheduled for June 11, 2026. Cleaver motioned for the case to be moved out of Christian County, but a circuit judge denied the request.

Cleaver is currently charged with two counts of second-degree murder, five counts of armed criminal action, two counts of aggravated fleeing a stop or detention resulting in death, one count of aggravated fleeing a stop resulting in injury and one count of second-degree assault. Cleaver has pleaded not guilty.
