Nixa to install roundabout for safer, smoother traffic flow

NIXA, Mo. — A long-discussed plan to rework one of Nixa’s busier intersections is moving closer to construction, with MoDOT preparing to begin a roundabout project this spring at Route CC, North Main Street and West Cedar Street. Construction is scheduled to start in April.

The Missouri Department of Transportation says the project is designed to improve safety and traffic flow at an intersection that sees about 8,300 vehicles a day and often backs up during peak travel times. The work also includes storm sewer installation and pedestrian improvements, and it will tie into the city of Nixa’s Main Street project.

MoDOT hosted a public meeting Thursday evening at the Nixa Police Department training room to walk drivers through the project, expected detours and how the work will affect daily travel routes during construction.
